How much money, if any, does the plant contribute to the local community?
Plant contributions to the community in both donations of meat and cash amount to approximately $70,000/year. In addition, currently donating $125,000 to the Schuyler Hospital for a remodeling/expansion project with a matching $125,000 coming from Cargill.
Do plant employees participate in community service activities? If so, which ones?
Many employees give their time as volunteer firemen and volunteer rescue squad. They also volunteer as coaches for various sports including basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and wrestling. Employees also serve as board members for numerous organizations such as Hospital Foundation, Hospital Board, Chamber of Commerce, United Way, AYSO, Schuyler Golf Club, Schuyler Baseball Corporation and Adult Soccer League.
